Peter Friend *

Peter has nearly 30 years of experience in the healthcare field, having served in a senior executive capacity in three community hospitals, most recently as the Executive Vice President/COO at Highland Park Hospital for 16+ years.

With his healthcare background, he is particularly interested in developing pragmatic and innovative ways to help employers control their healthcare costs, as well as maximizing value on their other group benefits. His focus, although not exclusive, is on helping hospitals and hospital systems balance their unique role of being both an employer and a healthcare provider.

Peter has been very active in his professional organization, The American College of Healthcare Executives, in which he is a Life Fellow. In addition to serving on and chairing a variety of ACHE committees, he served as the Regent for Northern Illinois from 1992 to 1997.

Peter has been a prolific speaker and writer on a variety of healthcare topics including understanding and controlling benefit costs, freestanding emergency centers and physician/hospital integration. He earned his Bachelor's of Science degree from Northwestern University, Evanston Illinois and his Master's of Science in Health Administration from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
